Winter Chick Transport — How the Fuel Heater System Works

May 20, 2026 Cybercoldchain Reading time: 2 min

Cold weather kills chicks fast. If you're running routes through northern China or Central Asia in winter, a constant temperature truck's fuel heater isn't optional — it's how you keep your cargo alive.

The system runs off the same diesel tank as the truck. A coolant heater warms up the engine coolant, which then circulates through a heat exchanger in the cabin. The ECU regulates temperature automatically, so the cabin stays at your setpoint between 22-26°C without anyone touching a dial.

Diesel grade matters in winter — use 0# down to 5°C, -10# down to -5°C, -20# down to -15°C, and -35# for anything colder. The heater can operate with the main engine off, which is important during rest stops or loading.

Specifications

  • Type: Fuel-fired coolant heater
  • Heat output: 15-35 kW
  • Fuel: Shared with chassis tank
  • Diesel grades: 0# (≥5°C) / -10# (≥-5°C) / -20# (≥-15°C) / -35# (≥-30°C)
  • Setpoint: 22-26°C via touchscreen
  • How it works: Heated coolant → circulation → cabin heat exchanger
  • Works down to: -35°C

Key Features

  • Runs off the truck's own diesel — no separate fuel needed
  • Automatic temperature control — set it and forget it
  • Shuts down with a cool-down cycle that protects the heater
  • Works with the engine off, so you stay warm at rest stops
  • Choose the right diesel grade for your local winter temps
  • 6 temperature sensors prevent cold spots in the cabin
  • All controlled from the same touchscreen as the AC

Applications

Winter chick transport in cold regions, export routes through Central Asia and Russia, year-round operations in temperate climates with cold winters.
